Text Box: Why should I have my cat professionally groomed?

Cats and kittens need regular grooming just like dogs. Many cats enjoy being brushed and bathed. In order to keep your cat healthy and comfortable please schedule him or her for a regular grooming appointment.

Many long haired cats get very “matted” and need to have their coats removed. This is important because the longer they stay matted, the more damage is done to the skin. When cats are shaved down, we do what is called a lion cut. The body is shaved short, and there is a mane left around the neck, hair left on the legs and a puff on the tail. They look like little “lions.” Lion trims can also be done to avoid shedding and for general comfort of the cat.

Regular bathing for long and short hair cats, reduces shedding, odor and skin problems. We love cats at YOU DIRTY DOG.

Kitty with BasketKitty and DogKitty and flowerText Box: When should my Kitten have its first professional grooming?

Grooming on your kitten should be started at 8 weeks of age, so that the kitten can become acquainted with the sounds of the studio environment, noises such as dryers, other cats, dogs barking and being handled by a stranger.

Your groomer will teach your kitten the proper way to enjoy his grooming. These techniques started early will imprint on your kitten. The first 6 months of life for a cat is like the first 5 years for a human. It is very important to start them early. Your cat needs to be groomed every six weeks to keep it happy and healthy.
Waiting until a cat is two or three years for their first grooming experience can be stressful for the cat, groomer and owner! Grooming should be a pleasant experience for everyone!

Teeth Brushing will improve your cats breath as well as improve oral health. Regular brushing by your professional groomer will help prevent oral problems as your cat ages.

Beginning as a Kitten, your cat will learn to enjoy this procedure along with their regular grooming. The fee for teeth brushing is $5.00 along with your regular grooming.

Text Box: Getting along!

Even though dogs and cats do get along at times, we respect your animals and their space. We never allow any cats to be with dogs or with other cats. Each cat is either on the table, in the tub or in their own individual cage at all times. We do this for the safety and comfort of your pet. We request that each cat comes in its own carrying case. We pride ourselves on a no stress environment for everyone!
